Pascoe International e-Limousine Press Release

Swanwick, Hampshire, UK - 4th January 2022. Pascoe International announces the sale of the world’s first 100% electric superyacht limousine tender. Pascoe International can confirm that the first fully electric limousine tender is now under construction and will be delivered in 2023 to a large new build mothership from a major Northern European shipyard. Following a six-year research and development period, Pascoe International is now offering full electric propulsion for their limousines and open guest tenders.

Pascoe International’s technical team have been studying the viability of electric-tender propulsion in collaboration with expert advisors and research partners for many years. During this process they have carried out extensive R&D on hull design, motor integration, battery performance and whole-system optimisation. Partners include automotive electrification specialists, propeller designers, battery manufacturers and leading university research teams.

Tom Southern, Vice President at Pascoe International commented: “The realisation of a zero-emission at point of use Limousine Tender with a top speed of 40 knots and a maximum range of 60 miles will be a defining moment for the superyacht industry. The e-Limousine truly signifies the beginning of a new wave of luxury water-borne travel and a move away from internal combustion propulsion systems in the superyacht sector.”

With an ever-increasing focus on sustainability, this project will mark the start of a new era for yachting. At a time when stricter emissions regulations are being introduced across the globe, the zero-emission Pascoe Tenders will be a showcase of advanced marine technology from launch and for many years to come.

For a yacht owner and their guests, the appeal of an electric limousine tender is not just environment-related. Whilst considerable fossil fuel savings are achieved by charging the tender from the ship’s own power generation systems compared to running the tender directly on diesel, there are other key advantages. These include a near total removal of torsional vibration transmitted into the hull structure, considerable reduction in noise (both inside the cabin and outside the tender), a significant increase in acceleration due to the torque profile of the electric motors and of course the knowledge that they are leading the global shift to zero-emission at point of use technologies.

The Pascoe e-Limousine based on the company’s award-winning SL platform uses the latest oil-cooled electric motors, but these are just one part of the equation. Ensuring the most efficient transfer of power from the motor to the water is one of the critical areas that will set the e-Limousine apart from any other craft currently in use or indeed under development elsewhere. The sophisticated electrification system incorporates the latest advancements in propulsion technology. Pascoe International have partnered with experts in marine propulsion to develop a new drive system that provides optimum propulsion efficiency whilst removing the noise and vibration associated with a conventional stern-drive. The e-Limousine drive will offer precise joystick docking and unprecedented improvements in comfort levels for guests travelling on-board.

With over 250 projects delivered since the company was founded in 2004, Pascoe International has unrivalled experience in the design, integration and understanding of the operational profiles of modern superyacht tenders. Using data collected from the 27 Pascoe Limousines in active service to define the typical use profile of large guest tenders, it is evident that fully electric guest tenders are now a viable and far superior alternative to combustion fuelled craft. In 2023, the first e-Limousine will be delivered to a large yacht currently under construction at a prestigious shipyard.

The fourth annual Superyacht Charities Ball is fast approaching! For the second year running, Pascoe International are headline sponsors at this fantastic event to be held on Saturday the 24th of March at the Hilton, Ageas Bowl in Southampton.

The purpose of this Superyacht Charities event is to promote awareness, and to assist in raising funds for charities that Superyacht professionals both participate in and already donate to.

This year, the two chosen charities to be represented at the ball are; Sail 4 Cancer and Turn to Starboard.

Sail 4 Cancer was established in 2001 by a group of sailors who sadly, had all lost a relative or close friend to cancer. Primarily, the charity provides water based respite days and holidays for families who have been or are affected by the illness.

Turn to Starboard work alongside and support Armed Forces personnel who have been affected by military operations by way of conducting RYA sailing courses. Founded by Shaun Pascoe, an RAF Squadron Leader (Rtn), the idea of conducting sailing training to overcome the transition back to civilian life, was inspired by Shaun’s own experiences having toured Kosovo, Sierra Leone, Iraq and Afghanistan.

To aid the fundraising for these fantastic charities, there will be a Premium Raffle and Grand Auction held on the evening. In 2017, some of these prizes included; a VIP visit to the Red Arrows, England Rugby Tickets and a Luxury Beach Hut Weekend! Collectively of which, raised a huge £37,000.00 which was distributed between the chosen sponsors.

Of course, there will also be dinner, musical entertainment, dancing and an after party for all attendees.

If you would like to contribute to the cause, please contact info@superyachtcharities.com to find out more.

We look forward to seeing you there!

The multi-role DT Beachlander has been awarded Superyacht Times Tender of the Month for February! See the full write up below or click here for the original online article.

This month we step on board the awesome 9.8-metre DT Beachlander from Pascoe International. The 9.8-metre vessel is the latest model from the British company, Pascoe International, and has been designed to be a true multi-role tender, offering the space and layout to cater perfectly to the requirements of any superyacht.

Currently used as a tender by one of the world's most talked-about and distinctive superyachts - the 106-metre Oceanco sailing yacht, Black Pearl - the 9.8-metre DT Beachlander tender offers everything you could want from a tender and more. With a weight of 4000kg, and a maximum beam of 2.95-metres, the 9.8-metre tender has a total of 520hp and an impressive maximum speed of 45 knots, which is bound to get your pulse racing on the water!

Part of the DT range of tenders from Pascoe International, the 9.8-metre tender has been carefully designed to be dry riding and provide excellent sea keeping whilst setting new standards in the level of finish demanded by the world’s finest yachts.

Seating up to 14 people, the hull features an innovative hydraulic opening bow ramp to enable elegant and safe access to the beach, whilst also offering a flexible deck layout for guest transportation. Newly designed, the wide hull and 'D' shape buoyancy tubes provide a significant increase in internal volume over a conventional tube, allowing guests and crew to move more freely around the tender as they please.

The DT Beachlander incorporates styling by the renowned British studio, Ken Freivokh Design who are also responsible for the design of the mothership Black Pearl. This ensures that the craft is tailored to reflect the mothership’s exact style and detailing and is a true representation of Black Pearl when collecting guests from the dock.

In addition, the tender has also been designed for use by guests as a base for exploring areas that the 106-metre mothership cannot access. Her special features on board are numerous and include a beautifully appointed day head, fridge for refreshments, a sophisticated AV suite and a hydraulic bimini for shade.

With so many cool touches on board and an exquisite level of finish, the 9.8-metre DT Beachlander has many standout features in her design including a phenomenal sound system and hidden sun loungers located within the aft sun pad.

In addition, her bimini also lowers at the touch of a button to reduce height for more compact stowage on board. Furthermore, her high-tech joystick control system allows each sterndrive to move independently for full 360-degree control, enabling the tender to move sideways, diagonally and rotate, all without the use of a bow or stern thruster.

Crafted by Pascoe International under the guidance of the owner’s build team and Burgess, this 10.6-metre limousine tender is an elegant and purposeful vessel. Designed to perfectly complement the mothership, the 110-metre Oceanco-built Jubilee, delivered earlier this year and featuring exteriors by Lobanov Design, and an interior by Sorgiovanni Designs.

The Pascoe International limousine range provides high-end, fast and comfortable tenders which excel in all weather conditions. Borrowing both form and function from the classic Venetian water taxis, Pascoe International limousines take the concept to a whole new level. All Pascoe Limousines are optimised to make the best use of the space available in even the most restrictive of tender garages, and are available in any variation between eight and 12 metres.

Built specifically to match the 110-metre motoryacht, Jubilee in quality and appearance, the Pascoe limousine features two quite distinct and separate external areas accessible directly from the dock and from the elegant doors either side of the handsome cabin.

With her carefully considered design, the tender’s guest cabin is positioned centrally to give guests the smoothest, quietest journey possible, with her innovative use of space still allowing for a forward open air seating area. Her exterior finishes are identical to those found on the mothership, ensuring that the limousine is a true reflection of Jubilee when her guests are first welcomed at the dockside.

The vessel is able to transport up to 12 guests in style and comfort, with the finest Italian leather used in her interiors. With fastidious attention to detail a hallmark of Pascoe International tenders, Jubilee’s leather is complemented by beautiful Flame Makore panelling, finished to perfection in a deep gloss lacquer.

Featuring all the amenities you would expect for a high-class tender, Jubilee also comes with an external wet bar with concealed refrigerator, champagne cooler, coffee machine and bespoke glassware storage.

Roy Dance, the Captain of Jubilee describes his experience with this Pascoe tender: “This was my second tender build at Pascoe and I’m happy to report that although Pascoe International have significantly expanded their operation and product range since my first experience, design excellence, innovation, phenomenal attention to detail, and an uncompromising determination to improve the product on each and every build mean that Pascoe continue to occupy a position at the very pinnacle of the luxury yacht tender niche. I look forward to my next build experience at Pascoe. It is such a pleasure to work with people so passionate about their craft and the customer experience.

Superyacht Times Talk Pascoe

With over 180 tenders in active service for some of the world’s most iconic yachts, the UK-based Pascoe International has a well-established reputation for their so-called pocket superyachts. Here we talk to Vice President, Tom Southern about how the company got to where they are today and what we can expect to see from them in the future.

With over 180 tenders in active service for some of the world’s most iconic yachts, the UK-based Pascoe International has a well-established reputation for their so-called pocket superyachts. Here we talk to Vice President, Tom Southern about how the company got to where they are today and what we can expect to see from them in the future.

Pascoe International was established in 2004. Tell us about the company’s journey into building tenders and some of the major milestones since.

Pascoe International came into being as a major player in the tender market when commissioned by the owner of the Maltese Falcon to supply a matching pair of open and cabin custom 10-metre tenders. The owner had researched the market and could not find tenders which could match his new yacht in terms of quality, innovation and attention to detail. Since then, Pascoe has gone on to build over 180 dedicated superyacht tenders.

It is indeed significant that a majority of Pascoe tenders have been specified/requested by captains, chief engineers, shipyard and project managers – they have the responsibility to deliver to the owner a reliable tender to fully match all the owner’s expectations. As the Pascoe range now extends to open and enclosed limousine tenders and handsome beach landing craft, owners have increasingly wished to be involved in the finer details and to explore with Pascoe’s designers the best way to customise the tenders to match the mother ship and their own particular style.

We notice that Pascoe Limousines actually display the Pascoe brand name yet a variety of styles are evident. Tell us more about that.

At variance with companies who simply offer their services as boat/tender builders or companies who offer weekend leisure boats as tenders, Pascoe tenders are all based on tried and tested ‘platforms’ developed specifically to provide the ideal characteristics required for a yacht tender. This means that Pascoe guarantees such qualities and performance, and the owners can rest assured that they are not ordering a prototype tender which may, or may not, come up to their expectations. Regarding the styling, however, such platforms have been designed from the outset with the flexibility required to offer a wide range of options to ensure that the ultimate styling not only perfectly suits the mothership garage but also can match the look and feel of the main yacht.

A number of Pascoe ‘pocket superyachts’ can be seen at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show, all based on fully optimised platforms, yet the look, the style and the proportions will have been dictated by their garages and owner requirements resulting in unique and highly individual dedicated superyacht tenders.

You note that any owner demanding the very best from their tender should come to you. What makes you and your tenders stand out from your competition?

Quite simple – pursuit of perfection. A look into a Pascoe engine bay or indeed a cabin interior will instantly reveal the attention to detail, the level of innovation and, very importantly, the level of practicality and serviceability. Pascoe tenders, whilst very elegant, have been designed as working tenders, not just pleasure craft. They are designed and built to withstand the rigours of working 18 hour days, serving all the requirements of the mothership, with quality and reliability being the hallmark of every single Pascoe tender, whether a 5.5-metre SOLAS rescue tender or a 12-metre highly specified limousine.

You’ve built and delivered nearly 200 superyacht tenders to date, with many clients ordering multiple craft at a time. What makes your clients go for the whole tender package with Pascoe?

Pascoe is unique in that we will deliver a complete set of tenders to cater for all requirements of the mothership. It is not unusual for Pascoe to deliver packages of three or even four tenders to a single yacht. A recent package included a 10-metre enclosed limousine, an elegant 9-metre open guest tender, a 7-metre ski boat and a 7-metre crew/rescue tender. Each project is tailored to meet the clients individual requirements, built by Pascoe International’s 100 strong workforce at a dedicated production facility on the River Hamble, UK.

Pascoe International will be at the upcoming edition of the Monaco Yacht Show. What can we expect to see from you?

You will see the unveiling of two splendid and very special new tenders designed by Ken Freivokh to match his design for the newly launched 106-metre Oceanco sailing yacht Black Pearl. These include a unique 10.4-metre limousine catering for 12 guests within a handsome cabin and a 10-metre larger evolution of Pascoe’s hugely successful Beachlander series. Pascoe will also present a brand new and quite distinct 10.2-metre limousine reminiscent of the most iconic gentleman’s launches, and there will be a number of Pascoe limousines and other Pascoe tenders at the show alongside their respective superyachts.
